Many landlords get cheated by this type of scan, these type of people.
Get a credit check done on all those who rent! It is the best insurance for your investment. Also the first and last as certified cheque and/or money order before handing over the keys.
I side with the third landlord in breaking the "Lanlords and Tenants Act" laws. Then again he was a fool!
Even if the guy is a millionaire, he has no right to defraud or treat people in such a fashion.
A professional con man is all he is. Go back and stay in the U.S. of A.!

Why would this guy send for "security guards" (Goons) from California? Does he plan to use muscle to intimidate the home owners. Should not the police be called in after such a claim?

How could someone who cannot manage or take care of his own rent be licensed to handle other peoples money? Does not our Government branches check people out before issuing permits/licenses!

Maybe he became a millionaire by using the same deceitful tactics on others in Califirnia and elsewhere.

    James Matthews, III, Myerstown, PA.

This story has a ring of "All tenants are suspects". At least in Pa. it is the other way around. This story should not be interpreted to mean that tenants are the bad guys. Far more often than not it is the landlord who is the culprit in virtually every factual senario. I have rented in the past where the landlord continually harasses, enter your residence without your knowledge or permission and sometimes steals your personal belongings, padlocks the premises illigally and an array of other unlawful acts. Lets' see some stories from the tenant's point of view.

In Ontario it's illegal for landlords to charge a damage deposit, even if the tenant offers it.

In Ontario when a lease ends, the tenant doesn't have to move out.

In Ontario when a tenant doesn't pay rent, and you go to the Landlord and Tenant Board (which takes months) the tenant can bring up 'surprise' maintenance issues (real or not) and avoid eviction.

      It goes on...

@James the III... (hmmmm). Obviously by making his comment, he was no doubt or presently is a tenant who does not pay his rent and would try to blame the reason for that to be that his Landlord is harassing him and stealing his stuff. SURE!!!! Well dont worry James the III you will be allowed to stay forever in your abode paying nada... thanks to a criminal loving LTB who make their salaries by prolonging cases whilst Landlords lose everything.
